Regenerative Medicine FAQs
While regenerative medicine shows promise in the rapidly growing body of scientific data, it has yet to be proven to be effective and it is not FDA-approved. All procedures are entirely elective.
We are very careful to only work with patients that we think we have a chance of helping based on our experience. Namely, patients who are in overall good health who suffer from chronic pain caused by damaged or degenerated musculoskeletal tissues (such as joints, spine, or ligaments), that is not “too far gone”. While we have helped many people, there are people we have worked with that we have not helped at all. Our experience is that overall, we help more people than we don’t help, but there is nothing about regenerative medicine that is either a “miracle” or a “cure”.

Medications to Avoid Before Treatment
NSAIDs (Avoid 7 Days Before & After Treatment)
Examples include:
Ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®)
Naproxen (Aleve®)
Meloxicam (Mobic®)
Diclofenac (Voltaren®)
Celecoxib (Celebrex®)
These medications may interfere with the inflammatory healing response necessary for regenerative therapies.
Steroid Medications (Avoid 2-4 Weeks Before Treatment)
Examples include:
Prednisone
Methylprednisolone
Medrol Dose Pack
Cortisone injections
Kenalog injections
Depo-Medrol injections
Steroids may suppress the healing response that regenerative therapies rely upon.
Your provider will determine the appropriate steroid washout period.
Additional Recommendations
Stay hydrated
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
Avoid smoking when possible
Eat a healthy protein-rich diet
Follow all provider-specific instructions
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
Some patients experience:
Temporary soreness
Mild swelling
Temporary stiffness
Mild increase in discomfort for several days
This is often part of the healing process.
Most patients resume normal activities within 24-72 hours, although activity restrictions may vary depending on the treatment performed.
Not always.
Many patients seek regenerative therapies before considering surgery. While some patients experience significant improvement, no treatment can guarantee avoidance of surgery.
Many regenerative therapies are considered investigational for certain conditions and are not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.
